Boarding Glory

     For this piece, I wanted to revisit using a longboard as a canvas, as I have done in the past. I love utilizing themes of nature meeting humans/technology on a "canvas" that is functional.     My design idea was a record player and gramophone with a flower as the gramophone. My mom grew morning glory flowers not too long ago, and the vines took over the backyard. This element along with the shape and beautiful color of the flower inspired me to choose it. First, I sanded the longboard because it had a finish to it already. I wanted to draw the eye towards the flower design as a focal area without it being centered on the board, so I used triangular ray shapes. These were alternated with the olive wood grain on the board and darker wood stain. The stain was difficult to get to dry and the blue painters' tape caused some leaking, so I eventually had to reapply green tape and use mineral spirits to clean up the lines.    I used Golden High Flow paint in refil
